Webinar: Educating in Cultural Rights – From Declarations to Practices

Duration: 90 minutes
Language: Spanish
The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair is organizing a webinar on Wednesday, 25 September, focused on the relationship between peace education and cultural rights.
The main aim of this webinar is to explore the interdependencies between these two fields, highlighting the importance of moving from declarations to real-world practices.
The session seeks to provide tools for integrating cultural rights into peace education, building a bridge between theory and practice.
Cultural rights are among the least known areas within the human rights family, despite being fundamental for coexistence in diverse and plural societies. Culture plays a key role in fostering dialogue, especially in contexts where conflict may arise. Participation in cultural life and respect for each person’s identity are essential to ensuring peace and social cohesion.
The webinar will feature contributions from:
- Dr. Alfons Martinell: Co-Director of the Pau Casals UNESCO Chair and expert in cultural policies and cooperation.
- Mireia Tresserras: Co-Director at EducART, museum educator, and researcher in cultural rights and education.
- Laurence Cuny: Lawyer specialising in international human rights law.
- Jordi Pascual: Professor of the Master’s in Cultural Management at UOC and University of Girona, and coordinator of the Culture Committee of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
