Description
The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair commissioned researcher Dra. Gemma Caballer Albareda to conduct a study focusing on the multifaceted figure of Pau Casals through the values of peace, justice and freedom that guided him throughout his life and career.
The outcome of this research is the book Pau Casals and the Spanish Refugee Aid: The Maestro’s Humanitarian Commitment, which explores his humanitarian work with Spanish Refugee Aid, a charitable organization established in 1953 by Nancy Gardiner Macdonald to raise funds to support Spanish refugees in exile in southern France.
The event will feature a dialogue between Gemma Caballer, historian and author of the book, and Miquel Berga, Honorary Professor of English Literature at Pompeu Fabra University.
The event will conclude with a short musical performance.
This research project was carried out with the support of the Memorial Democràtic de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
